Login VSI · /// Alternative
Login VSI tests load. LoadGen also monitors, observes, and validates APIs.
Login VSI pioneered VDI load testing and has a large enterprise install base, but it stops at load. LoadGen brings API testing to the EUC/VDI world. Login VSI, ControlUp, and NeoLoad don’t offer this. The same platform also ships End-to-End Monitoring and SessionSight DEM, on transparent per-Agent and per-week pricing.

The Fair Version
Login VSI knows VDI load testing.
No straw-man comparisons. Login VSI defined VDI load testing as a category and has decades of pre-packaged workloads behind it. These are the strengths a fair-minded buyer should know.
VDI-testing pioneer
Login VSI defined VDI load testing as a category, with real institutional knowledge of Citrix and RDS testing patterns.
Pre-packaged workloads
Library of ready-to-run VDI workloads (Office, Knowledge Worker, Power User) for teams that don’t want to author their own.
Long enterprise install base
Sat in many enterprise VDI assessments for years; the workloads, references, and integration patterns are familiar.
Why teams add LoadGen
The capabilities Login VSI doesn’t ship.
Teams running Login VSI typically hit the same three walls: no continuous monitoring, no real-user DEM, no API testing. LoadGen fills the gap on the same scenario engine and adds AVD scenario coverage out of the box.
Continuous monitoring on the same engine
The same .lgs scenario that runs as a load test fires as a synthetic user on a configurable schedule. End-to-End Monitoring across Citrix, AVD, Omnissa Horizon, RDS, Web, and FAT-client desktops. Login VSI is load-only.
SessionSight DEM out of the box
Heatmaps, journey analysis, session replay (slideshow or DOM reconstruction), and capture-time DOM masking with Strict / Balanced (default) / Relaxed modes. DEM capabilities Login VSI doesn’t ship.
API testing in the same platform
Visual flow editor with 21 executable API flow nodes and OpenAPI / Swagger import. LoadGen brings API testing to the EUC/VDI world; Login VSI, ControlUp, and NeoLoad don’t offer this.
Monitoring + DEM in one
What Login VSI doesn’t do, and you also need.
Load testing tells you what will happen. Monitoring tells you what is happening. LoadGen ships both on the same scenario engine, plus SessionSight DEM for real-user behaviour. One vendor.
- Same scenario engine drives load tests AND continuous synthetic monitoring. Author once, replay both modes.
- Live cockpit during execution: per-step latency, generic p95, sessions table, time-range scrub.
- SessionSight heatmaps, DOM-reconstruction replay, and visitor journeys on the same timeline as your synthetic checks.
- From €899 / Agent / month for Monitoring. From €1,099 / week (50 vUsers) for Load Testing. Published.
Live monitoring and testing cockpit. Same UI, two modes.
API testing where EUC tools don’t go
A visual API flow editor Login VSI doesn’t ship.
LoadGen brings API testing to the EUC/VDI world. Login VSI, ControlUp, and NeoLoad don’t offer this. 21 executable nodes across a 28-node palette, OpenAPI / Swagger import, replayable as load tests and as continuous synthetic checks.
- 21 executable nodes spanning flow control, request, data, control, assertion, and Scriban-based built-in transformation.
- OpenAPI / Swagger import scaffolds operations automatically.
- Drag-drop flows author in minutes. Replayable as load tests AND as continuous synthetic checks.
- Same Analytics + AI. Alerts route to Email, Webhook, SMS, and WhatsApp.

How teams move
Three patterns for adding LoadGen alongside Login VSI.
Complement on monitoring
Keep Login VSI on the canned load-test workloads. Add LoadGen for End-to-End Monitoring, SessionSight DEM, and API testing. Capabilities Login VSI doesn’t ship.
See use caseConsolidate to one platform
Replace Login VSI plus separate monitoring, separate DEM, and separate API tool with LoadGen at the next Login VSI renewal cycle, on transparent published pricing.
See use caseAdd AVD scenario coverage
For Citrix shops migrating to AVD, LoadGen runs Citrix and AVD scenarios through the same scenario engine, with the migration positioned as a side-by-side comparison workflow rather than a separate engine.
See use caseSee LoadGen alongside Login VSI on your own Citrix farm.
We’ll author a synthetic Citrix scenario in the wizard on a call, fire it as a load test AND as a monitoring check, and walk you through SessionSight DEM. Same vendor, same cockpit.
Questions
Frequently asked.
Does LoadGen replace Login VSI, or run alongside it?
Both patterns are common. Teams initially add LoadGen for the End-to-End Monitoring, SessionSight DEM, and API testing layer Login VSI doesn’t ship, then evaluate consolidating to LoadGen for load testing at the next Login VSI renewal.
How does LoadGen compare on Citrix testing depth?
LoadGen ships a 7-step Citrix wizard covering Basic (ICA) and Enhanced (HDX), with StoreFront, Gateway, PNAgent, and External Login authentication captured natively. Full agents run as actual Citrix client sessions with .lgs workloads. Activate, Reset, and Kill operations land per-session on real session hosts. The SUT Monitoring step binds generic Windows performance counters.
What about Login VSI Pro / VSImax workloads?
LoadGen and Login VSI take different shapes here. Login VSI Pro has canned workloads (VSImax patterns) optimised for a specific Citrix-capacity benchmarking workflow. LoadGen is broader (same scenario engine drives load, monitoring, DEM, and API) but does not ship the VSImax-specific workload library verbatim. We can talk through your benchmark requirements on a call.
What does it cost compared to Login VSI?
LoadGen publishes €1,099 per week for Load Testing at the 50-vUser tier; the licence tier scales to 25,000 vUsers and LoadGen has tested 25,000+ users in customer engagements. End-to-End Monitoring is €899 per Agent per month with annual subs including two months free. SessionSight DEM and Service Levels are quoted on a call.
Can we run LoadGen alongside our existing Login VSI deployment in PoC?
Yes. The PoC runs against your own Citrix or AVD environment over a timeline we agree on the discovery call. LoadGen agents deploy on-prem or in cloud. Login VSI keeps running unchanged. The comparison happens on real data.
What’s the path if we decide to consolidate?
Teams typically keep Login VSI for one renewal cycle while LoadGen takes Monitoring, DEM, and API testing. At the next renewal, the question becomes whether Login VSI’s VSImax-specific workload library justifies the multi-tool cost. LoadGen Services (consulting and managed runs) is available where in-house bandwidth is tight.
