Login VSI · /// Alternative

Login VSI tests load. LoadGen also monitors, observes, and validates APIs.

Login VSI is the legacy load-test choice for Citrix shops — but it stops at load. LoadGen ships End-to-End Monitoring, SessionSight DEM, and a visual API flow editor on the same Citrix-native depth, on published per-Agent / per-week pricing.

The Fair Version

Login VSI knows Citrix load.

No straw-man comparisons. Login VSI has decades of Citrix-specific testing heritage — these are the strengths a fair-minded buyer should know.

Citrix load-testing heritage

Login VSI built its reputation on Citrix capacity benchmarking and has a large enterprise install base in Citrix-heavy shops.

Established workload library

Years of investment in canned VSImax-style workloads, scripting patterns, and Citrix-specific test conventions that ops teams are familiar with.

Vendor-backed enterprise support

Login VSI has formal enterprise-support agreements that procurement teams in regulated industries often prefer.

Why teams add LoadGen

The capabilities Login VSI doesn’t ship.

Teams running Login VSI typically hit the same three walls: no continuous monitoring, no real-user DEM, no API testing. LoadGen fills the gap on the same Citrix-native depth — and adds AVD ARM native handling out of the box.

Continuous monitoring on the same engine

The same .lgs scenario that runs as load test fires as a synthetic user every minute — End-to-End Monitoring with Citrix HDX + ICA + StoreFront / Gateway. Login VSI is load-only.

SessionSight DEM out of the box

Click heatmaps, scroll maps, rage-click detection, DOM-fidelity session replay, visitor journeys — DEM capabilities Login VSI doesn’t ship.

API testing in the same platform

Visual flow editor, 28 node types, OpenAPI import. End-to-end API validation that Citrix-specific test tools — including Login VSI — typically don’t cover.

Monitoring + DEM in one

What Login VSI doesn’t do — and you also need.

Load testing tells you what will happen. Monitoring tells you what is happening. LoadGen ships both — on the same Citrix-native scenario shape — plus SessionSight DEM for real-user behaviour. One vendor.

  • Same scenario engine drives load tests AND continuous synthetic monitoring — author once, replay both modes.
  • Live cockpit during execution: per-step latency, HDX p95, sessions table, time-range scrub.
  • SessionSight heatmaps + DOM replay + visitor journeys on the same timeline as your synthetic checks.
  • €899 / Agent / month for Monitoring; €1,099 / week for Load Testing — published.

Live monitoring + testing cockpit — same UI, two modes.

API testing where EUC tools don’t go

A visual API flow editor Login VSI doesn’t ship.

Per knowledge-base §7.2: LoadGen ships a visual API flow editor — Login VSI / ControlUp / NeoLoad do not. 28 node types, OpenAPI import, replayable as load tests and as continuous synthetic checks.

  • 28 node types: HTTP, REST, SQL, branching, loops, assertions, custom code, OpenAPI import.
  • Drag-drop flows author in minutes — replayable as load tests AND as continuous synthetic checks.
  • Captured once, runs as both load and monitoring — no re-authoring across modes.
  • Same Analytics + AI; alerts route to Email / Webhook / SMS / WhatsApp.

Questions

Frequently asked.

Does LoadGen replace Login VSI, or run alongside it?

Both patterns are common. Teams initially add LoadGen for the End-to-End Monitoring + SessionSight DEM + API testing layer Login VSI doesn’t ship, then evaluate consolidating to LoadGen for load testing at the next Login VSI renewal.

How does LoadGen compare on Citrix HDX testing depth?

LoadGen ships a 7-step Citrix wizard covering Basic (ICA) and Enhanced (HDX), with StoreFront / Gateway / PNAgent / External Login authentication captured natively. Full agents run as actual Citrix client sessions — Activate, Reset, Kill operations land per-session on real session hosts.

What about Login VSI Pro / Application AppGuard features?

LoadGen and Login VSI take different shapes here. Login VSI Pro has canned workloads (VSImax patterns) optimised for a specific Citrix-capacity benchmarking workflow. LoadGen is broader — same engine drives load + monitoring + DEM + API — but does not ship the VSImax-specific workload library verbatim. We can talk through your benchmark requirements on a call.

What does it cost compared to Login VSI?

Login VSI does not publish pricing. LoadGen publishes €1,099 per week for Load Testing at the 50-vUser tier, scaling to 25,000 vUsers. End-to-End Monitoring is €899 per Agent per month with annual subs including two months free. SessionSight DEM and Service Levels are quoted on a call.

Can we run LoadGen alongside our existing Login VSI deployment in PoC?

Yes. The PoC runs against your own Citrix / AVD environment over a timeline we agree on the discovery call. LoadGen agents deploy on-prem or in cloud; Login VSI keeps running unchanged. The comparison happens on real data.

What’s the migration story if we decide to consolidate?

Teams typically keep Login VSI for one renewal cycle while LoadGen takes Monitoring + DEM + API testing. At the next renewal, the question becomes whether Login VSI’s VSImax-specific workload library justifies the multi-tool cost. LoadGen Services (consulting + managed runs) is available where in-house bandwidth is tight.
